The Ark and Next Step Domestic Violence Project are partnering with Sheltering Animals and Families Together concerning the temporary housing of companion animals of residents currently staying at or about to enter shelter at Next Step. Both parties are aware and concerned about the link between Domestic Violence and violence against animals and it’s impact on both humans and pets. At no time in this situation will an animal be boarded at the Ark for profit.
These additional services will be offered that may require funding or reimbursement to the Ark:
*If the pet requires emergency medical attention, the Ark will be authorized to retain a veterinarian. The Ark will attempt to communicate with the owner prior to seeking veterinarian services, if the time and condition of the animal permits.
