Happy, friendly, handsome and full of love, we are pleased to introduce you to 3-year old Lucky, who was re-named after a lovely woman saved him from an abusive home. She cared for him, met all of his needs (medical, love and shelter) but ended up having to bring him to the Ark due to personal reasons. She was very heartbroken and loved Lucky very much. Lucky loves to be with gentle people and women, and even thinks he is a lap dog. He loves to go for walks.
Thanks to his pet guardians Lea and Roger Lane, we are going to be able to care for Lucky’s special neuter procedure, all the toys he wants, and buy him a new bed. You will see in the picture that he chewed up his favorite bed. We think he was very confused and upset and was wondering what is going on.
Lucky has suffered injuries to his mouth. He has problems chewing hard food and we need soak his food in warm water for him to be able to eat it. Lucky is scared of people throwing toys and lifting hands over his head. He is strong on a leash, and needs a little bit of work on his leash. He has tested positive for a tick-borne illness as well, which we will treat as needed.
Lucky is kennel trained and does very well in his kennel. It will be best for him to have a comfy and quiet kennel space available to him to go to when he pleases, at night and during the day.
We will not be adopting Lucky to a home that has young children. While we believe that Lucky is not aggressive AT ALL, what we DO believe is that Lucky has been through a lot, and noisy, bustling and unpredictable children would not be what he needs rights now. Lucky needs to be in a quiet home with mellow, older adults, preferably women who are gentle, patient, and have very big hearts.
We ask for serious inquiries on Lucky only, and we hope you have read all of his info before calling us. Please keep in mind that Lucky has been treated very poorly by the people in his life, but he does NOT treat people poorly as a result. This dog needs some love.

We have some ADORABLE updates on Zeus!
He loves to throw toys for himself and then catch them. After he goes outside, he runs right back inside to get his milkbone. (Milk bones are his favorite)! He likes to dig in the snow, he loves to play, and is very unique. He loves to get belly rubs, and after oiutside time, you have to wrestle him to get nakey. (To get his collar off). He loves belly rubs.
He is a handsome mansome who was neglected by his owners, however his spirits are high! He is a 8-10 year old blue heeler/pit mix. His personality is awesome. He has some minor skin issues. He is not yet neutered so we will have to do a foster-to-adopt, and/or an adoption with a neuter contract. Look how handsome he is and what a good boy he is! He is of cattle dog mix, so someone with experience with cattle dogs is preferred. We hate to see older dogs in a shelter environment. This gentleman needs to be in a home.

Christian is quite famous around this neck of the woods! We just wanted to let everyone know that Christian still hasn’t found a home yet- SUPER strange, since she is the sweetest girl of all sweet girls. She would make the perfect companion for someone who wants a dog in their lap all the time. Christian loves to be in your lap, and will jump up constantly. She loves kisses and just being close to people. When you leave the room, she likes to follow!
You might have heard of Christian! She was missing for two wintry months and is now safely back at the Ark and has two very special pet guardians. Christian is between 4-6 years old, a little Collie Mix who is quite savvy, from Peurto Rico. She is “lista para ir a casa” (ready to go home).
Christian will need a home with a fenced in yard, or potentially other accommodations that would keep her safe. A home visit will be a requirement in Christian’s adoption.

Charlie, a senior (8 year old) male beagle/cattle mix has a very sad story and he would like to tell it to you over treats. This dog does not let his story get him down though .He has a very positive outlook on life and is waiting patiently for his new home. He is very overweight and will need some veggies mixed in with his food to fill him up, and many walks to help him become more fit. Charlie is very sweet and lovable. Would you like to give the shelter a call and come in and meet him?

Hi everyone! My name is Marko Andre. I’m here to wish you a very happy New Year and to tell you all about myself!
I’m very full of energy and will keep you busy ALL DAY LONG! I recently went home, but was returned shortly after because I was a little too high-energy and I barked at the kitties. Even though I’m a little over a year old, I am still very much a puppy at heart. I like to act crazy, play with toys, and keep you on your toes! I’m also very sweet and need someone with patience who can teach me some manners and love me for who I am. I hope that you call the Ark soon and set up an appointment to come play with me. I have a snaggle tooth and gorgeous eyes that might just melt your heart. Oh, and bring toys.

This two darling dachshunds were brought in from Puerto Rico, after their owner passed away. They will need to be adopted together, as they are very bonded and quite fond of each other. Wow-Opposites really DO attract! Chanel is just about as SWEET as she can be, but Harley is a little on the timid side, sometimes scared and nervous. It will take the right person to adopt these two adults and give them their second chance. Harley has some chocolate brown on her while Chanel is a beauteous gal, all sable and striking black. We are sure it won’t take TOO much time for these girls to make their way into your heart. With a little bit of patience, a well-versed dog owner and a quiet household, anything is possible for these two!
