On December 21st, 2017 we had a lovely couple come into The Ark, seeking companionship after losing their beloved ”Tigger”, an orange tabby cat two days prior. At this time, we had two six-week-old kittens that needed the individual attention to strive. Luther and Alice Beal fell in love with the kitten they named ”Albert” an orange tabby, and his sister ”Victoria” the cutest little torbie. The pair blossomed when in the care of Luther and Alice, and they always kept us well updated with pictures, letters, and when they formally adopted the duo, the sweetest keepsake photo album. They took on the challenge of two young kittens that needed a lot of love, and they went above and beyond for them. We couldn’t have found two better, more dedicated people.

Tank is a six-year-old brindle lab mix who was owner-surrendered, when they were unable to care for him any longer. He came in overweight, not house-trained, and being an outside-only dog. We began to work with him, putting him on a diet, house-training him, and getting him used to being an inside-outside dog for the first time in his life. He blossomed here, growing into an excellent boy who picked up on house-training easily, and lost some of the excess weight before being formally adopted on October 20th, 2017 by Chris Muller.

Jojo is an eight-year-old tan Mastiff mix who was surrendered after his previous owner passed away. Although he captured the hearts of most anyone who came to the shelter, we had difficulty placing him due to his age. He was formally adopted on February 10th, 2018 by Patricia Grant.

Axel is an eight-year-old Havanese who was owner surrendered after a death in the family. Axel came in not completely house-broken and with suspected Cushings Disease. After we sent him to the vet, we discovered that it was not Cushings Disease, but rather a hormone imbalance. He had lost a lot of fur off his back, which caused poor Axel to be overlooked by many potential adopters, until he was happily adopted on March 17th, 2018 by Diana Robinson.

Yogi is a three-year-old domestic long hair brown tabby cat that came into the shelter as a stray. Yogi was a bit of a special case. We received a call about someone looking to surrender a stray that was injured, and because we were short staffed, we asked the people who found him to rush him to the vet, Small Animal Clinic. Yogi ended up having to have his right leg amputated just below the shoulder. Yogi was only with us while he healed, as the person who found him made the decision to adopt him as well. He was officially adopted on January 6th, 2018 by Estelle Bickford.

Manny is a three-year-old domestic short hair brown tabby cat that came to The Ark as a stray that was caught in a have-a-heart live trap. He was very shy when first arriving, although he came out of his shell when introduced to other cats. Manny stayed with us at The Ark for approximately six months, before he was adopted on March 3rd, 2018.
