Sunisa

Sunisa

Meet Sunisa!
Sunny as we like to call her, is quite the loving little lady!
She is one of the sweetest ladies that we have and is one of the first kitties to come over when she thinks she is going to get some loves from you. She absolutely adores playing with other cats so it would be best for a cat to already be in the home or for her to be adopted with one of her brothers/sisters. Sunisa is a very well rounded lady already at just 8 months, and would be the best addition to ANY household!

November is Senior Pet Month!

November is Senior Pet Month!

November is National Senior Pet Month, and we’re excited to shine a spotlight on some of the incredible senior pets at The Ark Pope Memorial Animal Shelter. Senior pets bring so much love and wisdom to a home, yet they often face unique challenges in shelters, like adjusting to the stress of the environment or being overlooked for younger animals.

There are so many benefits to adopting a senior! Did you know senior pets are often calmer, more adaptable, and already have established personalities, making it easier to find the perfect match?

Click on each pet’s name below to learn more about their story and see why adopting a senior pet could be the perfect choice for your family!

Meet some of our adoptable seniors ready to find their forever homes:

  • Starsky (12-14 years): A gentle Shepherd mix who adores people and is house and leash trained. Starsky would love to be the only pet in the house where he can bask in all the love and attention.
  • Koda (9 years): A loving hound with plenty of energy for playtime but also a cozy couch potato at heart. Koda thrives with people and doggy friends but prefers no cats or small animals.
  • Mistew (17 years): A sweet and gentle cat who enjoys snuggles and sunny napping spots. Mistew is ready to spend his golden years with someone who’ll give him all the love he deserves.
Graphic featuring a senior tabby cat named Milo with green eyes, highlighted as 'Senior Pet Spotlight.' Text reads: 'Milo - 12 years. Milo has been adopted! Congratulations, Milo!' A red 'Adopted!' stamp overlays the cat's photo, and a link to 'thearkpets.org/adopt' is included alongside The Ark Pope Memorial Animal Shelter logo.

Congratulations, Milo!

After spending months at the shelter, this sweet boy went home this month. What an amazing way to celebrate National Senior Pet Month!

We wish Milo and his new family all the best!

Aspen

Aspen

Meet Aspen

Aspen is a very outgoing little kitty! She’s been helping new fosters get adjusted to their arrival home and she’s doing a great job. She’s curious, playful and so enthusiastic about it! She’s the first to investigate and figure out what it’s all about. She’s only about 3 months old but her aura is that of a wiser feline. Come meet this splendid lady today and let her lead you to a life full of love!
Skittles & Jaq (bonded pair)

Skittles & Jaq (bonded pair)

Meet Jaq

Jaq (seen below) is a shy boy that still just wants his mom! Will you be the one to welcome this little family into your home and give him the space he needs to come out of my shell? He’s been slow to warm to us here, but I have a feeling once he has his own space to call his home he will be a stand-up, respectable gentleman; especially with his loving mother to guide him. We’d love for these sweethearts to find their forever home!

Meet Skittles

Skittles is a sweet momma cat who is still very much bonded with her babies. Because of this she will need to have her son, Jaq, go with her to her new home. Gentle and loving, she’s waiting for someone warm to cuddle up to so she can relax with her boy! Are you looking for a couple mellow cats to share your home with? Look no further than this mother son duo! Their bond will surely warm your heart and home.
Peach

Peach

Meet Peach

Peach is a shy girl who is easily won over with treats. She’s great with other cats and looks to them for comfort when humans are around. She’s reserved here at the shelter but will surely come out of her shell when she finds her furever home. Come give this little girl a chance to blossom into the confident cat we know she can be!
Chica

Chica

Meet Chica
Chica is a very sweet lady!
She would prefer to be adopted into a home as the only cat, but she can coexist beautifully with others, she just doesn’t take much interest in interacting with others. She’s been with us for months now and is more than ready to find a home to blossom in!
Please give this loving girl a cozy place to call her own!
Stuart

Stuart

Meet Stuart

Stuart is a handsome and friendly boy with a big personality. He’s very affectionate and is ready to help you with any task! He’s actually one of the best supervisors I’ve ever had. He has a twin sister named Julia that is a bit more reserved than him but still so sweet. If possible they would like to go together!
Odessa

Odessa

Meet Odessa

Odessa is a burst of purr-sonality ready to play! She is extremely affectionate and just wants to be loved all the time. You’ll never have a dull moment with this goofball around! She’ll spend hours entertaining you and herself with all of her toys and antics. Take this sweet girl home today if you want a life full of laughter! (But only if there are no other cats to go home to! This lady wants to be a solo feline)
Oksanna

Oksanna

Meet Oksanna
Oksanna is a spunky girl with lots of love to give to her humans. She’s playful and affectionate and always wants to be around you. Other cats, not so much. She prefers to get all the attention to herself, which isn’t hard to give her because she’s so sweet! If you want to add a bundle of fun in to your home then Oksanna is it!

Mikey

Mikey

Meet Mikey

Mikey is a sweet orphan who was recently brought to us when her pet parent went to hospice. She is a very chill lady who loves affection and a fresh breakfast. She doesn’t exhibit the wild orange cat behavior that we usually hear about; perhaps because she’s a rare female? She was an only cat when she came to us but she doesn’t seem to mind her neighbors here, though she is definitely ready to move out and into a new furever home!
Lincoln

Lincoln

Meet Lincoln

Lincoln is a very sweet boy with energy to spare! He loves to chew bones and would gladly pass the time shredding stuffies to reach that wonderful squeaky center. He’s a strong boy that will need help acclimating to leash life. He’s familiar with cats and is very likely to get on well with other dogs; he has a wonderfully positive attitude! He prefers females, especially those who will give him the love and affection he deserves. Due to his large size it may be best to avoid a home with small children, not because he is aggressive but because he is goofy enough to underestimate his own strength. He has allergies so will need a specific diet.

Koda

Koda

Koda is a vibrant 9-year-old hound mix who proves that age is just a number. Full of life and curiosity, she’s happiest with her nose to the ground, sniffing her way through every walk and adventure. A true hound at heart, Koda brings a joyful, determined energy wherever she goes.

Despite her years, she has the spirit and enthusiasm of a much younger pup. She adores her frozen Kongs, long strolls, and—perhaps most of all—snuggling up under her favorite blanket after a day well spent. Whether she’s exploring the world or winding down, Koda does it all with heart.

Koda is looking for a calm, loving home where she can be the center of attention. She would thrive as the only pet in the household, and due to her size and energy, she’d do best in a home without young children. She’s a loyal and affectionate companion who just wants a cozy spot to call her own.

She’s looking for a loving home that appreciates her zest for life and gives her the cozy comforts she enjoys. If you’re seeking a loyal companion who’s equal parts adventurous and affectionate, Koda might be the perfect fit for your family.

Luke

Luke

Meet Luke

Meet Luke, a brave and playful young boy who is full of curiosity, friendly and affectionate, and just an all-around funny guy! Luke has a lot of love to give and is patiently waiting for the perfect family to give it to. Unfortunately, we don’t know much about his history with other dogs, but given his enthusiastic and playful demeanor, we believe he would get along well with others given proper introduction and a slow, steady introduction. Luke has a lot of energy and is always excited for an adventure, so he’s the perfect companion for someone who loves the outdoors. He is a young boy with a whole lot of love to give and a lot of life to live – are you the right fit for him? Come and meet him today!
Starsky

Starsky

Meet Starsky

Sweet old man Starsky has lost his home due to a changed family situation. He really loves people and is hoping to find a home where he can be with someone as much as possible. He likes to just hang out with people, & is very well behaved.

Starsky is 12 years old and 52 lbs., and is moderately active, with good mobility. He is good in a car. At some point, this gentle guy was bitten in the face by another dog, so he doesn’t want to live with another dog. He is good on a leash, but if he sees another dog, he at first freezes and panics, and then pulls toward and barks at the other dog. This is manageable as he’s not terribly strong, but he would be happier if meeting other dogs wasn’t a common occurrence. We are unsure about how he would do with cats, but does seem to have a prey drive. We think he would be fine with older, respectful kids.

This old guy just wants to hang out with a person or family who will love him in his elder years.

Malcolm

Malcolm

Meet Malcolm

Shy at first but grows to love cuddling! He has a lot of energy that will need to be spent healthily so that he doesn’t get bored. He does best with company, so it is not recommended he be left alone for long periods of time.

Lil’ Romeo

Lil’ Romeo

Lil’ Romeo is quite the guy! He spends most of his time trying to rough house with the other cats, eating, or sleeping. He is extremely playful and will need someone or another cat in the home to help him burn that energy. He does like to shoulder surf every once in a while, but he’s a pretty good surfer by now! Lil’ Romeo would do best in a home maybe with older kids that would run around with him, keeping him entertained and tired
