Hello everyone, meet Luna!
Luna is a 1 year old lady who would enjoy a more quiet environment. She isn’t really a fan of having a bunch of people around, so having a home where there isn’t a lot of foot traffic is ideal for her. Luna does well with other dogs, and she also does alright with cats. If your home does have a cat it would be preferred that the cat has a space where they can get away from Luna in case she gets to be too much. She is a shy and nervous girl at first meeting, but comes around after spending some time with her. Luna can be a stoic so it can be hard to read what she is feeling because she isn’t used to being able to share how she feels. With that in mind it would be best for her to go to a home with dog savy kids that are respectable of her space when she needs.
Luna is just a shy, sweet girl, hunting for that forever home she deserves. Won’t you help her find it?
Tonka is a 2/3 yr old Great Dane, and has recently had Gastropexy surgery to greatly reduce the risks of bloat. Although he is pretty big the way he is, he does have to gain some pounds to be at a healthy weight for his breed. It seem that even though everybody else knows how big he is, Tonka hasn’t quite gotten the memo. With that in mind, it’d be safer for him to go to a home with older kids. Tonka also does do good with other dogs, but seems to prefer the females.
Tonka is a gentle giant in search of a home. He’s sweet, loving, goofy, funny, and just get a look at that droopy Great Dane face! He is a big lover (literally), so we’re in search of the perfect human(s) to love him like we do!
Say hello to Theodore! Theo is the most handsome and sweetest 13 year old boy! Before arriving here at the shelter Theo went to the vet where he was declared in perfect health despite some dental work needing to be done, slightly under weight and his scrappy appearance! This old man purrs, chats, and snuggles like none other. He has captured the hearts of every staff member that has had the pleasure of meeting him. Theo loves his food and to be held on your shoulder- there is nothing not to love about this big boy! We are looking for a forever home for Theo so he can live the rest of his years in warm loving home. We are still closed to the public (but oh so close to making our final move) but you can fill out an application on our website or message us with any questions about Theo. We are so excited to introduce the most lovable, affectionate, and purr machine of a girl, Minnie. Minnie is 20 years old, the oldest cat here at the The Ark Animal Shelter, even though she doesn’t look or act like a senior cat. Minnie spent 20 years of her life in a loving home until her previous owner unfortunately passed away. It truly breaks our hearts to see Minnie here at the shelter after living 20 years in home, and would love nothing more than to see her go to a home. Minnie is truly one of the most affectionate and loving cats, as I sit here writing this post Minnie has burrowed herself deep into my arms endlessly purring. Minnie will do best in a home as the only animal where she can get the undivided attention she deserves, and in her older years she has become less tolerant of the rambunctious nature of younger animals, although she does wonderful with children!
