If you enjoy fat, fluffy butts wagging all over the place when you come home, you’ll just love these two fluff butts. Do you want to sit home and watch Gray’s Anatomy all day with the girls? These are your ladies! They’ll be laying there with you, snacking on milkbones and soaking up snuggles.
Surrendered at absolutely no fault of their own, these two beauty queens are loving, laid-back, and super bonded. We were told they are about 6 years old, but one of the veterinarians reported that Belle was a couple years older, at least.
Where is the warm, loving and quiet home for these babes? We are waiting for YOU! Someone is going to be very lucky to bring these ladies home and be loved by them.
Belle and Sage will only be going home together- there will be no separate adoption. We offer a very reasonable dual-adoption price on these girls, to the right home only. They are currently in the Administrator’s office, AKA “Auntie’s office,” and they are quite ok in there until the right home can be found.

We just love these handsome gray kitties. We think it would be really nice to see them go together, although it is not necessary so we are accepting dual applications or singles!
These vocal, sweet cats are super affectionate. Brady is a bit more laid-back and likes to look handsome in the sun while his brother Brady appreciates toys and playtime a little bit more.
Considered seniors, these two kitties are about nine years old and looking for a home to call their own for the rest of their lives!

Yea, yea…Pounce has RGF (resting grump face) but we PROMISE he is not a grump!
He is super sweet and affectionate with other people. While he’s a little on the lazier side, he does still enjoy a good cat nip high for him. He’s kind of a chunky boy, but come on! The ladies LOVE chunky boys. His eyes are so captivating and reel you in with every loving stare. He is just a big love bug who will never let you be late for dinner (or let you let HIM be late for dinner).

We’d love for you to meet Sheldon, who happens to have a double paw on his front right paw. He’s full of energy and and just as quirky as his physical appearance! Her has a dominant kitty personality and we think that he might even do well with a family that likes to do active things and take their cats WITH them! Hiking kitties, anyone? He’ll make a GREAT cat for leashes and walkies on harnesses. Extra emphasis that he is FULL of energy and needs a good outlet to release it. He is also very sweet and will give you hugs at the end of the day.

Please come meet this fella! He could be the next handsome love of your life. This guy’s name is Frodo. He came to us from Puerto Rico as just a baby, and then was lucky enough to go into a foster with a wonderful lady who taught him and loved him! He was then adopted by a nice family but then returned, due to his very timid nature.
While Frodo is timid, once he warms up he’s a little goofy, loves to play, and enjoys cuddles. He was born 7/17/20.
Frodo will need a home with lots of love and patience, and some tranquility. Small children would not be best, due to him being scared.

If you need a rotto-tiller, come rent Charlie for a day. (Just kidding- but he does like to dig)! It’s one of his favorite pass-times. He’s very energetic and playful, and he does not like to give the ball back after he gets it. He is a bit of a goof ball, but we absolutely LOVE him! A very confident dog, Ollie KNOWS he’s worth every darn bit of attention you have at all times!
He is just a pup, and so might need some proper interaction around other dogs to learn how to be behaved. He is just a baby, so we aren’t going to rule other dogs out completely. He should be the only dog, unless a few meet and greets are done and go well.
Ollie needs a little bit of work on the leash but he is also very eager to learn and to please his people. He is a big, loving baby! And PS….Ollie will do anything for a treat.

Her name is Sylvia, and we want to tell you a bit about her. She’s very sweet and playful. She is really funny to watch when she’s playing with toys (animals are such fun, anyway). She’s very vocal and likes to tell you stories. Imagine the stories she could tell you?!

ARK ANIMAL SHELTER RECEIVES $40,000 Grant from
Elmina B. Sewall Foundation for
 ARK ALLEY CATS program
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Ark Animal Shelter in Cherryfield has received a $40,000 grant through the Cat Population Control portion of the Elmina B. Sewall Foundation’s Animal Welfare Program.  The grant was endowed for the purpose of advancing “Trap Neuter Release,” along with the Ark’s innovative new Ark Alley Cat program (AACP).Â
The grant money will be allocated, in part, to The Ark Alley Cats Program, whose goal is to reduce the number of unwanted cats in Washington and Hancock Counties. Grant money will also support the Ark’s Trap Neuter Release program (TNR) piece of AACP, which allows free roaming cats to experience colony life as they know it, without reproducing. Â
The Ark plans to engage and help educate local Animal Control Officers and interested community members in efforts of trapping, neutering and returning cats to their colonies. For those cats that cannot be returned to the property in which they were trapped, they will safely reside on the Ark’s 80 acre property, housed in the new Ark Alley Cat building which is scheduled to be operating in late fall of 2021.Â
“There are more than 160,000 feral and stray cats in the United States,” said Shaina Mugford, the Ark’s Administrator. “While we know that we can’t save them all, we can definitely make a significant difference in their population in Washington and Hancock Counties. We are so very grateful to be receiving this important grant money from the Elmina Sewall Foundation. “TNR” is more than simply saving today’s cats: we feel that it is the future of animal control and sheltering. These much needed funds are allowing us to quickly move forward to implement our plans. And for this, we are extremely grateful!” Â
The Ark Animal Shelter, a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization, is located in Cherryfield, Maine. It is dedicated to the care of homeless, unwanted or displaced animals, and provides shelter and care to all admitted animals until appropriate placement can be made. The Ark does not euthanize unless a serious medical or behavioral problem exists.

Riversong is a super friendly, high energy girl who would love to accompany her forever friend on long walkies, long car rides, and hikes! She is a beautiful and intelligent girl – she does know some commands like “come”, and she has a beautiful “sit”! Sometimes her sniffer gets ahead of her, so she will always need to be on a leash when outdoors unless there is an outside kennel available. Riversong doesn’t get along so well with other puppers or kitties, she deserves all of the attention in the world, and she knows it! She would do best in a home without other animals, and without small children.
